Who We Service
ACBS provides services to individuals and families in Region IV of the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals Home and Community-Based Services Waiver Program (Recently renamed The New Opportunities Waiver - NOW).

Types of Services
ACBS is a fully licensed organization by The Department of Health and Hospitals of Louisiana for:

  • Personal Care Attendants (PCA)
  • Supervised Independent Living (SIL)
  • Respite Services

Services for Adults
We provide client and family driven programs that offer a comprehensive menu of services designed to enable adults with difficulties related to their mental and emotional well-being to live fulfilling and rewarding lives. Adult services are available to persons 18 years of age and older. The amount and kinds of services provided are based on the individual needs of clients, their diagnoses, their goals, and residency. Clients are full partners with a team of professionals who are dedicated to developing individualized plans with respect for client choices.

All services are provided in your home and your community. If you need help finding an apartment or house of your own, we help you with all the arrangements top to bottom.

  • Emergency Services
  • Day and Night companion services
  • Health care access, consulting and transportation
  • Community access and supports
  • Individual Service Plans designed for you and the following services are examples of some of assistance you can receive from our staff.
  • Medication, Dental, Vision assistance
  • Scheduling and attending all health care appointments
  • Filling, purchasing, and complying with all medications
  • Behavior Management if needed
  • Money Management (budgeting, bill paying, purchasing)if needed
  • Social Security, Food Stamps, Medicare etc. requirements
  • Coping and communication skills if needed
  • Hygiene, household chores if needed
  • Laundry, cooking, meal planning, shopping if needed activites and leisure
  • Acquiring a Job or volunteer work if desired.
  • Health and Safety

IMPORTANT, these are just a few of the services we provide. Most important, you and your family decide which of the many assistance areas we will help with. You DECIDE. You will have at least weekly face to face meeting with your assigned Staff Supervisor in order to assure all of your goals and objectives are being met. You are not limited to just once a week, we encourage frequent contact between you and us. As we share time and experience together, we will form a special and rewarding relationship.

  • Substance Abuse and Mental Health Counseling
  • Family Support and education
  • Recreation and leisure activities
  • Coordination of services with other providers

How We Measure Success
We measure our success by helping individuals and families learn to sustain periods of wellness over the course of a lifetime. Thus we measure the level of functioning and independence. Understanding that progress occurs over time and may involve setbacks is an important key to supporting an individual’s recovery over the course of a lifetime.

How we measure level of functioning for individuals includes:

  • Days involved in school, work or volunteering
  • Participation in hobbies
  • Time spent exercising
  • Ability to live independently
  • Ability to pay bills
  • Less days in hospital
  • Adherence to their wellness plan, including medication
  • Day to day happiness and fulfillment

How we measure level of functioning for families includes:

  • Improved communication skills
  • Ability to problem solve situations
  • Increased coping skills
  • Increased understanding and acceptance of dual disorders
  • Increased time spent being a family
