Acadiana Community Based Services was founded in 1995 by our administrative staff which possesses over 50 years of direct care experience with individuals with developmental disabilites.
Our Mission ACBS mission is to provide individuals with developmental disabilities in Louisiana with the support and training that will enable them to live independently, safely, to be an active part of their community, and to make informed choices and decisions regarding their lives.
Our Vision People with disabilities should live in and receive services in the least restrictive setting consistent with their individual needs, wants and abilities based on the principles of choice, community and empowerment.

ACBS encourages, listens, respects, and responds to each individual's decisions and desires. Individualized services are developed using person centered planning approach placing persons seeking services and their families as the driving force as to how the services are developed, delivered, and evolve.

ACBS facilitates strong community connections. Unrestricted opportunities such as employment, volunteering, and endless number of social, recreational, and entertainment possibilities are fostered. At the core of all ACBS services is that the individual's sense of belonging and family involvement is crucial.

It is important to our clients, their families, friends and above all, to us that unnecessary hospitalizations, institutionalizations and restrictive placements be avoided through consistent and compassionate daily assistance. We pride ourselves in helping our clients take their respectful places in their world, their homes, and their communities - where they want to be!
Our Dedicated Staff ACBS is a fully accredited training center of the American Safety and Health Institute. All of our staff members:
- are individually screened
- must pass full criminal background checks
- must pass work history checks
- receive 16 hours of individual orientation
- receive CPR and First Aid training by certified instructors
- are trained to meet each client's specific needs, wants and goals on their ISP (Individualized Service Plan)
- are trained in Infection Control, Environmental Emergency Procedures and Blood Born Pathogens
- receive 40 hours annually of ongoing training and testing
